The Architect
Guillermo Matías Alonso´s designs are outstanding for being timeless and eclectic; for the use of basic, durable and noble materials such as naked stone, brick, hard woods and concrete. All these materials are worked and crafted with techniques which are rarely used these days of standarized, dry construction. The woodworks are tailor-made and they are designed with the client.
Each project is completely personal, with no catalogues, studying every corner of the building with the client.
Guillermo Matías Alonso's houses have the characteristic of not disclosing their age. The use of stuccos worked with the classic methods; demolition ironworks; woodwork designed and crafted with mouldings and boards; and the use of old wood and furnitures (from e.g. old drugstores), invokes in those who enter to them, a feeling that they are in a building made 80, 100 years ago.
"Houses made to be passed on by several generations without varying their beauty and enhancing charm as time goes by."
Guillermo Matías Alonso has built 30 houses during his 15 years in architecture.
